The City of El Paso Department of Public Health is celebrating National Public Health Week, April 6-12, as part of its efforts to improve the health of our citizens through education, access to health services, research and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
Since 1985, National Public Health Week has been highlighting the valuable contributions of public health workers to the nation’s health system. This year, the national theme is “Building a Foundation for a Healthy America,” which focuses on public health’s role in ensuring healthy communities.
Locally, we are working to “Build the Foundation for a Healthy El Paso” by joining forces with the University of Texas at El Paso and the El Paso Regional Campus of the University of Texas at Houston School of Public Health to enlighten the community about local public health programs and educational opportunities.
This public outreach campaign kicks off at 9 a.m. on April 7 at the UTEP Union East Building. On April 8, the activities will move to the UTEP library. The events will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both days. For more information this campaign, call 771-5702.
